The co-ordinators of the hugely successful Exeter Business Games, Big Wave Media, are pleased to announce that Olympic runner Jo Pavey will be ambassador to their new initiative; UK Business Games.
Four-time Olympian Jo is a long distance runner, specialising in the 5,000m and 10,000m. She holds the second fastest time for the 10,000m in Britain and her time recorded in the London 2012 Olympic Games ranked her number one in Europe for 2012.
Jo's impressive career spans nearly 15 years, and even though she has just recently become a mother for the second time, she has no intention of retiring yet.
With the UK Business Games, Big Wave Media hope to roll out the Exeter Business Games model to other British towns and cities.
The Business Games aim to facilitate the interaction of the local Business Community through a series of eight activities such as a pub quiz and tag rugby, while raising money for local charities.
The Exeter Business Games have been run by Big Wave Media since 2011, and in that time have raised over £20,000 for local charities.
The Games enable companies to build stronger working relationships through the team building aspect of the activities, but more importantly are an effective networking platform for local business and often create new business opportunities for both teams and venues.
A member of one of the 2013 teams said: "The Exeter Business Games was one of the highlights of the year for our business and staff. It was fantastic to be able to network with 22 of the most influential businesses in Exeter and get our staff involved in the Games. We can't wait to compete again next year!"
